The state of lung healthcare in America
National Listening Tour
Join the CHEST Foundation as we embark on a bold new initiative to build trust, identify and remove barriers, and promote healthcare access for all in order to help fight lung disease.
Listening to your voice: uncovering the issue
For those suffering with lung disease, health care providers can treat symptoms and work to delay its progression, but there is nothing to eradicate the illness.
Healthcare is not equitable throughout all communities. Often, our disadvantaged populations suffer most.
With the spread of COVID-19 and its potential for long-term complications, the picture of lung health is forever changed.
These patients, regardless of how they started their journey, are disproportionately made up of our most vulnerable populations, but there is hope. We can learn from those already fighting to prepare for our new reality.
To fulfill our mission, the CHEST Foundation has embarked on a coast-to-coast search for answers.
Fighting for every breath: finding the solution
We will give a voice to patients who fight for access to health care, specifically targeting those who live in historically undeserved communities.
We will build trust and understanding within communities, specifically between patients, their families, their caregivers, and their clinicians.
We will advocate on behalf of patients and their communities at-large for access to the right specialists and other telehealth resources.
We will provide access to specific lung health equipment that isn’t readily available, including inhalers, nebulizers, and oxygen supplies.
The fund for trust, access, and equity
At the conclusion of the listening tour, we will launch a designated fund that will have the power to transform ideas into action.
We will partner with community organizations and together, we will break down barriers to access and address specific community needs.
